Pieter Burger, who has served the Museum for well over 20 years, has decided that it was time for him to step down as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Montagu Museum.
At the Annual General Meeting of the Museum held on the 20th June, Pieter was bid a fond farewell with a warm thank you for his many years of dedicated service.
His knowledge and love of herbs in particular has been invaluable to the museum staff over the years.
Pieter's wife Elise, was the invited Guest Speaker on the evening. Not only did she reflect on some interesting historical facts pertaining to Montagu, she also left some thought-provoking challenges in the minds of all those who attended as far as the future development of Montagu is concerned - looking ahead at our 'history in the making' which is as important as looking back to what has gone before.
