What a wonderfully relaxing experience! A small group of Montagu-Ashton tourism representatives were collected at the tourism office and driven in comfort to Excelsior for a lovely breakfast. This would be the first leg of our four-stage wine experience, thanks to Wine Valley Safari and their friendly driver, Andy. If not already the case, this will soon become a must when visiting Montagu. Just imagine, not having to drive, while experiencing the Robertson Wine Valley and it’s brilliant selection of wines.
After breakfast, we were promptly collected and moved on to our next destination, Esona Boutique Wine Estate, where my personal favourite was their 2017 Chardonnay. Their range of wines is limited, but diverse and full of character. Moving on to the well-known van Loveren, one cannot help but be in awe of their gardens and extensive list of wine selections. It is encouraging to see them moving into the low-alcohol and zero-alcohol offerings.
Our final destination was Viljoensdrift, known for its boat trips up and down the calm Breede River. Their Sauvignon Blanc was particularly smooth and refreshing. Spending roughly an hour at each destination, it was time to head home. Wine Valley Safari collected us in their “Zebra Mobile” and off we went, back to Montagu, wondering where the time went. What a pleasant experience. The crew at MATA gives it a thumbs up! Thank you Melissa and Andy.
