On the weekend of 18-20 October 2019 the popular Montagu Rose Show will take place in the KWV building on the corner of Kohler and Long Streets.

It will, of course, be roses galore - from specimen roses to rose arrangements in various categories. Interesting talks are planned as well as a film show-casing gardens
Een van die hoogtepunte is 'n uistalling van Montagu-gebore Martine Robinson (nee Burger) se botaniese kuns wat onlangs in die Irma Stem museum in Kaapstad uitgestal was.
Roses galore: singles, multiples, all colours, arrangements, roses for sale. Nursery displays, garden accessories and requirements, succulents, bonsais, talks and films. Exhibition of porcelain dolls, bone china and antique lace.

World Heritage Site: The Sacred Mountains of Gran Canaria
Liana Jansen will share her experience as expert evaluator of this proposed
world heritage site on the Spanish island off the coast of Morocco. It was
declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019 and Liana will take us through
the landscape, highlighting special elements and explaining why the site
deserves this status. Liana is an internationally recognised landscape architect
and professional heritage practitioner.

The Beauty of Botanical Art
Martine Robinson is an acclaimed botanical artist who has not only won
awards at successive Kirstenbosch Biennales but has also been represented at
many exhibitions, most recently at the Irma Stern museum. To us she is well
known for her watercolour renderings of indigenous medicinal plants that are
illustrated the Montagu museum publication Traditional Herbal Remedies.
Martine will provide us with insight into this unique but exacting art form.

The Gourmet Garden
Montagu Denis Wyatt "Monty" Don OBE is an English television presenter,
writer and speaker on horticulture, best known for presenting the BBC
television series ‘Gardener’s World’.
In this, the second episode from his series ‘French Gardens’, he turns to the
French love of food and finds out how this has influenced their gardens. Monty
travels to some of the most famous 'potager' or kitchen gardens, where
vegetables and flowers are planted together in elaborate and beautiful
He talks to gardeners about this style of planting which has been copied the
world over. He also visits allotments, learns to pick asparagus, enjoys some of
the best produce from the land and learns about the importance the French
attach to the soil.
All these events will be presented in the Odeon at the KWV. This has
limited seating available and you are urged to obtain tickets from the
