The Montagu Music Society invites you to attend the Annual General Meeting on the 23rd January 2018
The AGM will be followed by a very special Concert after the Meeting !
Venue: Montagu Museum, Long Street, Montagu
The AGM will be a short 30 minute meeting followed by a 30 minute concert. Ying-Shan Tseng - Pianist
Ying-Shan is 15 years old and was born blind. This amazing young lady first took piano lessons in 2007 and learnt to play by ear.
In 2011 she transferred to the Pioneer School for the visually impaired in Worcester where she learnt to read Braille music notation under the tutelage of Mrs van Aarde and Dr Wootton.
Since then she has won numerous awards and in 2016 passed the UNISA Gr 8 Piano Examination and sang the UNISA Gr 5 Exam all on one day and passed with an unprecedented 88% for both exams.
In 2017 she achieved 87% for the Trinity Performers Certificate for Piano.
Her greatest achievement so far is having won first prize for Solo Piano in the New York Debut Young Musicians Competition. This took her to New York in October 2017 to participate in the Prize Winners Concert.
She is currently working on the Trinity Performers Licentiate for Piano which is to be played in October 2018.
Ying-Shan is fluent in English, Afrikaans, Mandarin and Taiwanese!!
