The Montagu Film Society will screen the Metropolitan Opera’s 1983 Centenary Gala in aid of Montagu Music Society’s fundraising efforts. This glittering celebration of the Met’s 100-year anniversary of its first production showcases performances by some of the best singers of the previous generation.
The original eight-hour public broadcast was condensed to a four-hour DVD edition, which we will show as two separate screenings of two hours each: Saturday 24 June and Saturday 8 July. Tickets for the shows at the Odeon in the KWV Building cost R 150. This includes both shows and glühwein and/or Muscadel to keep the winter chills at bay. Starting time for both screenings: 17h30 for 18h00.
Tickets go on sale at the KWV Building in Long Street at 09h00 on Friday 2 June.
