Gareth James Biography
Gareth James is a talented singer-songwriter hailing from South Africa. Born on February 07, 1983, in Cape Town. Gareth grew up in a musically inclined family and was exposed to a wide range of genres from a young age. He began singing and playing the guitar at the age of 15 and soon developed a passion for song writing. In his early years, Gareth played in various local bands and honed his craft as a musician. He drew inspiration from South African legends like Johnny Clegg, Just Jinjer, Springbok Nude Girls as well as international artists such as Kenny Rogers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Florida Georgia Line and Brantley Gilbert. Gareth decided to pursue a career in music full-time. He started his career in rock and transitioned to country Music in 2010, this brought on two years of anguish in which he waited for the break of day. In 2012, he released his debut album, “Your Song”, which showcased his unique blend of Country, Pop, and Rock influences. The album received critical acclaim and helped establish Gareth as a rising star in the South African music scene. In 2012, Gareth James found himself exploring new territory by entering Idols SA, Gareth James is far from pushing the envelope. Since then, Gareth has gone on to release impeccable music, he has toured extensively throughout South Africa, performing at major music festivals and venues across the country. His heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies have won him a dedicated following of fans, and he continues to inspire audiences with his music. Gareth James has been in the music industry for 26 years and is now, more than ever, ready to share his love and passion of Country music with the world, with doors opening and closing, he was nominated for the 2023 Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards in Marshall, Texas, earning him 3 nominations for Entertainer of the year, Songwriter of the year and Vocalist of the year. The awards ceremony, which is held annually, recognizes the best in Independent Country Artists from around the world. He also bagged 2 Country Music Awards at the South Africa Country Music Awards in October 2023, These recognitions are a testament to Gareth's hard work and dedication to his craft. In addition to his music career, Gareth is also an advocate for various social and environmental causes. He has used his platform as a musician to raise awareness about issues such as animal welfare, gender- based violence &child abuse and welfare.
