Welcome to the very first in the REVIVE ADVENTURES series of discovering SA’s hidden gems (people and places) via your MTB, gravel bike, or if you are special, Unicycle!
Dorp2Dorp will be a flat out race for some, a challenge for others and a ‘social’ weekend for even more of you. While the route is challenging - it is the beauty of the route that we are promoting, not the toughness of it. We would like to warn you however, this is not easy and may well be the 30th, 28th or maybe even the 27th toughest race somewhere in the Western Cape or the World! (But who cares).

REGISTRATION
Thursday 27/01/22 – Registration @Barrydale Makers Brew. https://the-makers-craft-brewery.business.site

As registration is such an arduous affair - we are throwing in a free Pizza and Beer/wine or cool drink of choice to get you through this most tedious part of any race. There will be slideshows and videos shown at the Makers Brew advertising the ‘Benky Rides’ tours with Kevin Benkenstein as well as the ‘500 series’ from Outlaw Media with Rae Trew-Browne.
Rub shoulders and get tips from these two Gravel-Greats (who knows, a pint of the local ‘Blonde’ might get you all the secrets and answers you need to become a better bike racer).

RACE DAY 1 - BARRYDALE-VAN WYKSDORP - 102KM 1020M Ascent.
Friday 28/01/22 7:00AM - OVERNIGHT BAG DROP
MEET @BARRYDALE CELLAR https://www.facebook.com/thecellarbarrydale/
(Good) coffee and locally baked rusks served from 7:00.

Please leave us your overnight bags and we will take them through to Rooiberg Lodge.
RACE START: 7:30AM SHARP(ish).
Special leadout ‘cars’ will safely guide you out of town - please do not overtake lead vehicles no matter how slowly they might be going!

WATERPOINT DAY 1.
There will be one water point at about 50km. Natural Fruit Ice Lollies, Powerbar products and water will be on offer - as well as good cheer and lots of noise. Please remember to always be nice to volunteers no matter how tired you may be!

For those riders who don’t want to/need to stop - please feel free to ride through, but if you don’t greet and thank the volunteers, don’t be surprised if there is a fine on hand in the evening for being ‘FAR TOO SERIOUS ON A BIKE’. (Extra credits will be given for any Dad jokes told on the move through the waterpoint).

DAY 1 FINISH @SPEKBOOM RESTAURANT VAN WYKSDORP https://www.facebook.com/spekboomrestaurant/
Breathe in the additional clean Oxygen supplied FOC from ‘000s of spekboom plants at the super friendly Spekboom restaurant. Enjoy a choice of burger (beef/chicken/vegan), a free beer/wine/cool drink, desert and coffee on us to revitalize the soul (and legs). Once you have enjoyed the pleasures of this gem of a Karoo town, take a leisurely pedal out to Rooiberg lodge for an evening of ‘Karoo-Kuiering’ with fellow racers. (We will bring your overnight bags to the lodge).
Lifts can be supplied to Rooiberg Lodge for those who may stay a little too long at the Spekboom Restaurant.
FRIDAY 28/01/22 - EVENING DORP AND DOP(S) - FINES AND FUN.

EVENING BRAAI
Choice of meat/vegan options and sides, plus one drink included (additional drinks - cash bar). Accommodation supplied at the lodge.

SATURDAY 29/01/22
7:00 AM BREAKFAST AT LODGE (INCLUDED).
8:00 RACE DAY 2 START 116KM - 1492M Ascent.
SPECIAL LEADOUT VEHICLE FROM LODGE.
No overtaking, and no lifts!

WATERPOINT DAY 2.
There will be one water point at about 58km. Natural Fruit Ice Lollies, Powerbar products and water will be on offer. Previous day’s etiquette and rules apply!
RACE FINISH
Barrydale Hotel, lunch and 1 drink included.

Special finishers presentation (No Medals!)
SATURDAY 29/01/22 - POST RACE

Saturday evening is at your leisure. If you decide to stay out in Barrydale (which we hope you will), suggested restaurants in town are:

Sunday market at Karoo Daisy.
While DORP2DORP is most definitely a race, it is also very much a family weekend. Husbands, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends and all those in between can most definitely be included in all, or some of the fun and activities. OR they can also just come to the Karoo an do their own thing.
