The "Double Rainbow Collaboration" is a project created in 2019 between The Little Giants, a youth band from Cape Town, and the Musikschule from Soest, a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, with the purpose of sharing ideas between the advantaged North and the disadvantaged South through music and culture.
In February/March 2019, The Little Giants visited Soest where they performed and did workshops on South African music and culture. This October a visit by a group of young musicians from Soest to the Western Cape is taking place. As part of this visit, a combined group of musicians from the 2 entities will take a trip down Route 62 on the weekend of 7-9 Oct.
This will include performances by an 18 piece big band at
* Barrydale Karoo hotel on Saturday 8 Oct at 18h00
and
* a picnic concert at Rainbow Glen in Montagu on Sunday afternoon 9 Oct at 16h00.
The musicians will also be presenting a workshop in Barrydale on Sat 8 Oct from 12h00 -14h00 at the community hall in Smitsville, Barrydale coordinated with the local Net-vir-Pret initiative.
At the Karoo Art Hotel concert food and drinks will be available for sale. The concert will be in the court yard if the weather is nice, else in the Belanti Cinema hall. Bookings can be made directly at the hotel at 066 189 7457 or via email at
