How would you cope if your life’s fortune was stolen? Pietie and his wife, Bardine, had their earthly treasure stored up in gold and silver stolen from their secret dugout in the middle of the Karoo.
Pietie will share their devastating experience and how through it all they have grown closer to their Lord.
Pietie was born 1n 1954 in Touws River and educated there too. After completing his national service in the Navy, he studied engineering at the Cape Tech.
They had the opportunity to purchase a small farm outside Kingwilliamstown for R 650 000. The Lord caused this to turn into a fortune, as they were able to sell it to the government for R23 m for a housing project.
After paying taxes and debts, there was R 15 m available to invest into precious metals.
During covid they chose to rent a desolate farm in the Karoo for five years. Part of the strategy was to invest R 750 000 to upgrade the premises in lieu of rent.
The devastating night saw them “persecuted,” drugged and abandoned. Their laptops, cellphones and shoes were burnt. The total assets removed were R 48 m.
Through this experience they have learned many valuable lessons, these Pietie will share with us.
Pietie and Bardine have been married for 45 years, they have three sons.
