Farmer Redbeard's activities and personality are warm and welcoming. His guesthouses are too, and date as far back as the 1700's which is when the Farmer Redbeard story began. The Van Zyl and Le roux families united in marriage and settled in the valley of Wilde Paarde Kloof at that time. The farm is situated 3.7km outside Ashton, between the beautiful towns of Robertson and Montagu on Route 62, at the foot of the Langeberg Mountain with spectacular views and a peaceful environment. This sets the backdrop for the Hands on farming activites that Farmer Redbeard enjoys with his guests.
DIE OU HUIS is an authentic, historical South African farmhouse and is fully equipped for self-catering and accommodates 8 people.
ALOE forms part of another of the original farmhouses. This cosy and comfortable cottage accommodates 8 people and is self catering.
Fennel and Coriander/ Vinkel en Koliander, self catering farm cottages, are perfect for couples needing a romantic getaway. They are fully equipped with an indoor fireplace and a small kitchenette.
Our renovated Red Bush bus can be found under Eucalyptus trees in the mountain, close to the original settlement of the Van Zyl's, and their ox wagon tracks. Adventurous guests can sleep in it and enjoy the untouched night sounds.
There is something unique on our farm for everyone to enjoy. Together we create moments over a glass of my handcrafted wines, making Wilde Paarde kloof and Farmer Redbeard experiences truly unforgettable....
