Without doubt one of the most beautiful venues along Route 62, De Oude Kombuis combines country generosity, disarmingly good service and fresh, unpretentious, tasty food. Located at the end of the village (last building before leaving to Barrydale) the Restaurant is housed in one of the oldest wine cellars in the area, and remains largely unchanged, with furrows in the floor, and the quintessential Cape 'Brandsolder ' ceiling.
Large shady gardens around an impressive fountain give the outdoor seating a feeling of colonial elegance. Artwork is for sale and a mini farm stall contains a small selection of products from our kitchen and local bottled produce.
Breakfast is served all day, and we bake all our own bread for our toasted sandwiches, farm style, with stone ground flour from the Overberg. Our legendary home made pies are baked on demand and we work very hard to ensure all perishable ingredients are fresh and bought that day.
The cuisine is agricultural, (like grandma's) but our competent kitchen staff present you with a meal truly a cut above anywhere else, with a twist of style. Daily special will tempt you, espresso coffee to complete you, and a place to arrive hungry, and depart happy. See Ya soon!
