by The Montagu Mail 09/11/2009 On Sunday, 11th October, fifteen brave souls from the Montagu Motorcycle Club set out in pouring rain to the Herberg Orphanage in Robertson. There they met up with another 80 bikers from the Think Bike Association, who came through from Cape Town.
The motorbikes then made a grand entrance - to the delight of the children.
Everyone brought toiletries along for the kids and were thanked with a lovely song. Donations were worth thousands (including help and sponsors from Think Bike). Due to the constant, pouring rain, the afternoon was not spent playing games with the children as was planned, but after a light meal, hot coffee and some time with the kids, drenched but happy bikers made their way back home.
This trip was combined with the run to support Breast Cancer (you might have heard about the ladies riding their Harley Davidson's through the country - known as the Journey of hope - and made Montagu their base for one weekend?)
Keep a lookout for the Montagu bikers, a bunch of goodhearted, friendly people, who like to get involved in helping others.
