Montagu came alive with Magic and Laughter on a cold Tuesday evening at the Vic Hotel. The Divas of Montagu celebrated the magic in their lives with Magician-Comedian, Russell Fox.
Dressed up Divas and good food was, like always, part of the evening, but the highlight was definitely the Magical antics of the “Fantastic Mr. Fox”; as Russell was dubbed by his appreciative audience before the night ended.
From pulling wine bottles out of party bags (better than a bunny out of a hat) – to disappearing burning cigarettes, there was no end to the surprises and great comedy that left the Divas rolling with laughter in their chairs.
Russell proved that Montagu magic is really about “Expecting the Unexpected”! When asked what he thought of this town, the answer went into lots of romantic detail, but he concluded with “It was like being 'born again' and entering into a magical space, when I passed through the hole in the rock at Kogmanskloof – this town IS MAGIC!!”
“Sharp!” “Witty!” “Amazing!” ... and "when is he coming back?” were just a few of the comments from the Divas who attended the evening.
Russell Fox has always been the kinda guy to mimic with accents and acting nutty, whether with music or just a character for friends at braais etc. His personality began developing at a young age and carried him into the Comedian Magician he is today. Performing as he traveled worldwide, learning as he toured, developing fine tuning and creating shows that knock the socks off those who watch them.
Argus deems him as one of South Africa's best and his international tours without a doubt prove this. Performing in countries such as United Kingdom, United States, Seychelles and Namibia and nationally through South Africa, working alongside the likes of Kurt Schoonraad, Mark Palmer, Dr Cope, Wolfgang Riebe and many more big names in the business. Russell is a true artist that lives for his music, poetry and performing arts.
He left us wanting to see more!
The good news is….. Russell Fox will be back with a full Magic Comedy show and this time the whole town is invited!
