After 20 years in the tourism and hospitality industry and having been involved in marketing, guest programs, development, recruitment and training, Peter van Zyl decided to settle in the Klein Karoo after accepting a position with the Mantis Group as Lodge Manager at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. With his wife and children residing in Montagu, Peter spent a year and a half looking after the needs of clients at the five star lodge he managed on the reserve.
Eventually Peter decided that it was time to work for himself again and decided to open a commercial laundry in Montagu, primarily focusing on the hospitality industry. Montagu Laundry Services opened its doors in June 2010 and has grown from strength to strength servicing not only the hospitality industry, but also the domestic market from all over Montagu.
After nine months of operation, Peter handed over the reigns to his wife Michelle and set his sights on a new venture: a quaint Delicatessen & Coffee Shop named Piccolo Tesoro, inspired by Peter’s passion for Italy – whether it be cuccina Italiano (Italian food), art, music or the culture; both Peter and Michelle are in love with the rustic, simplicity of the Italian countryside and it’s down to earth people. Peter hopes that Piccolo Tesoro becomes THE place for the locals of Montagu to gather whilst enjoying the atmosphere and the offerings of this new and exciting venture in town.
For those of you who have not yet paid a visit to Piccolo Tesoro, (28 Bath Street) make a point of doing so soon! You will be met and pampered by a friendly, welcoming and most attentive host !
