Motorhome Rally in Montagu | [back] |
by Kobus Louw 30/11/2009 Fifty-two motorhomes from all over the Western Cape and one each from North Vaal and Mpumalanga attended the last rally of the Western Cape Region of the Motorhome Club of South Africa (MCSA) in Montagu Caravan Park over the weekend, 28th November.
The members of the club could not stop enthusing about the quality of the Montagu Caravan Park - probably one of the most attractive and best run parks in the Western Cape, if not in the country!
Aside from enjoying the facilities in the caravan park, the members of the MCSA Club descended on the town itself where they were seen supporting the Village Market, the Art Route venues and several of the restaurants.
This motorhome rally, which took the form of a Christmas function with a spitbraai on Saturday evening, was the year-end function of the club and was presented and sponsored by the Loganda Karoo Lodge. Christmas came early to the park as everyone entered into the spirit of the season (see photo). Most of the motorhomes were decorated with festive lights and Christmas decorations which lent a unique atmosphere to the park at night. The new recreation hall of the caravan club was also put to good use as everyone danced up a storm until late on Saturday evening!
The apricots which abound in the valley this time of year proved extremely popular also, especially the novelty that the guests were allowed to help themselves from the many apricot trees in the park itself!
It was clear that everyone had a wonderful stay in the Caravan Park and in Montagu, as without fail, they all promised to be back again very soon!
