07/04/2010 Taking advantage of the first Coffee Morning of the 2010 season in the Montagu Nature Garden, a presentation was made to the previous curator of the gardens Johan van Dyk. Johan for many years had supervised the maintenance and development of the gardens and the local Breede River Wineland Rotary Club felt that this devoted contribution to the community should be recognised by their highest award - The Paul Harris Fellowship. The President of the BRW Rotary Club Keith Poole explained the background to Rotary Internationally and some of the work of the local club. He then presented Johan with the fellowship citation and medal and Johan responded in both Afrikaans and English. The turnout for the inaugural coffee morning was a record - always a popular Tuesday morning venue on the social calender of Montaguans and visitors.  |
