Christmas is a very special time, where all have the opportunity to embrace the values of love and sharing. It offers a moment to reflect on the importance of being human, bringing with it a spirit which trancends all the artificial structures which humans are apt to surround themselves with.
The Montagu Motorcycle Association – a collection of bike lovers from Montagu – have decided that supporting the sick children at the Montagu Hospital is a worthwhile cause and (for the second year running) gathered together a fine selection of toys to ensure that these kids had an opportunity to share this special moment at Christmas. We rode through the Town, the West, Bergsig, Ashbury and the South before delivering the toys to the Hospital.
Bikers are an eccentric lot, gruff and leathery on the outside, but full of love and soppy stuff on the inside and whilst we tried zestfully to make an exhibition of ourselves, we all discovered that emotion and shedding a tear came easily!
Many thanks to all who supported our event, all who donated toys and cash to this worthy cause. We couldn’t have done it without you – most known to us, and some unknown – we appreciate every one! A special welcome to the bikers from Swellendam and Cape Town who joined us!
Happy Christmas Montagu!!
