Lions host Exchange Students | [back] |
by Eric Zilverentant 16/01/2010 The Montagu Lions Club recently hosted 6 Malaysian Exchange Students - from 5-7 January 2010.
The students' first stop after being collected from Cape Town Airport was a visit to the Taal Monument in Paarl. The Afrikaans language has roots in Malaysia also, which is cast in granite.
In Montagu they were entertained with a typical SA braai in the evening (our thanks to the Avalon Springs for allowing us the use of their Lapa and pools at no cost!), a trip up the Langeberg Mountains on the famous tractor ride followed by their famous Potjiekos (the Lions would like to thank the owners here as well for the generous discounts given to our visitors and the Lions members who accompanied them)
To round off their visit, the students also stopped off at Van Loveren for a free wine tasting and a visit to their cellars.
They left Montagu with very good impressions of our beautiful town and surroundings and the fantastic hospitality by the Lions and their partners in service who all helped to make this visit a great success. The smiling faces on the photograph say it all !!
On the last day they were taken to Agulhas by bus, where the Gansbaai Lions Club took over from the Montagu club for another 3 days.
The whole visit started on the 15th December 2009, visiting the northern provinces, including Kruger Park and Durban and the South Coast, and ending in Cape Town and the Peninsula one month later.
This was just another way of saying : “We Serve – Ons Dien” in building understanding amongst the peoples of the world by Lions International.
