Large donation for Hospice | [back] |
by Ronel Preston 10/02/2010 The staff of the Breede River Hospice was overwhelmed when, at a cheese and wine function held at the Hospice premises in Robertson, on the 9th February, they received a sizeable (in more ways than one! - see photo below) cheque from the Breede River Winelands Rotary Club in the amount of R 210,000.00
"This money will not only be spent on sorely needed equipment and facilities at the Hospice Centre, but also on the patients in our care, which is what Hospice is all about", said Prof Basil Bloch, Chairman of the Hospice Board of Trustees.
At the same event, Riette van Westhuizen, Funding Co-ordinator for Breede River Hospice and also the Chairperson of the HPCA Resource Development Committee, was honoured by receiving Rotary's prestigious "Paul Harris Fellowship Award". The Paul Harris award is bestowed on individuals who stand out and is recognised for their outstanding and selfless service to the community.
