Johnnie Walker is still walking and Montagu was his latest destination. On Wednesday the 22nd, the Vic Hotel hosted a great brand awareness campaign for the Johnnie Walker range of Whisky and all who attended were rather spoilt!
The night kicked off with a great variety of finger foods which would thankfully absorb some of the spoils to follow. A projector presentation by a well-informed Johnnie Walker representative educated us all about the Walker range, including how it is made, the taste and it's history. Well timed intervals allowed each person to sample literally every type of Label, including the extra special and super-smooth BLUE LABEL.
The presentation also included a rather amusing video entitled "The Man Who Walked Around The World" (
video can be seen here)
No question went unanswered, including "When is it a Whiskey and when is it a Whisky?" Much is made of the word's two spellings, whisky and whiskey. Today, the spelling whisky (plural whiskies) is generally used for whiskies distilled in Scotland, Wales, Canada, and Japan, while whiskey (plural whiskeys) is used for the whiskeys distilled in Ireland and the United States.
For the Whisky drinkers who missed this one, it helps to stay informed.
