Montagu Youth Arts Festival
Support and celebrate with the young artists - Music, Art, Dance and Drama. Meet the esteemed adjudicators and enjoy the wonderful talent of our youth.
M.M.A.D.D. Festival starts on the 7th August and this will be launched with MUSIC, ART and DANCE entries. Art Exhibition, ART & Photography Prize Giving 7th August - Venue NG Kerk Saal.
The theme for the ART will be “WOMEN” –( women who inspire, things women love, important women in my life etc ) There will be a new category in the ART entries – “Best Drama Poster” – we encourage the Art Departments to participate in producing Drama Posters for their schools Drama Entry which will be displayed the week before the Drama entries take place – great exposure and good advertising for your school’s entry!
* TWO NEW ART ENTRY CATEGORIES – CRAFT and PUPPETRY!!
* There will also be an additional category in Photography – “Edited Photographs”
CHOIR performances – 9th August in the beautiful historical NG KERK!!.
Final performances will be on 10th August, followed by DANCE and MUSIC prize-giving
* 14th August Drama, Literature and Poetry entries – this will run until the 17th August. BALLROOM AND LATIN 16th August.
* DRAMA, LITERATURE & POETRY Prize Giving Celebration will be at 16h00 on 17th August.This event will include “nominations” as well as the prize/trophy winners
Great news for all contestants is that the Trophy Winners in ALL Categories will be invited to present/perform at the MONTAGU MAKITI Family Heritage Festival 21st September!

There are several accommodation properties in Montagu that would like to offer “Festival Accommodation Packages” – please contact us for special rates.
We also have offers from Montagu Museum, Joubert House, Montagu Museum Gallery, Montagu Dried Fruit and Guano Caves – offering package options for outings when you are visiting our town. If you need meals arranged please send your requests and we will gladly assist.
Many of our locals are submitting options to provide meals and rest areas for learners and teachers who have time during their stay with us – and we will assist with individual enquiries.
Master Classes during the Festival in all genres will be offered, and we would welcome your suggestions as to subject matter that would be relevant to the learners.
The Festival will again be managed by the NPO - RAD Foundation (Rural Arts Development) and portion of entry fee will be allocated to the Foundation who will identify and assist performing artists that are unable to compete due to financial constraints. We have also secured sponsorship and funding opportunities, to assist in this regard. If you are aware of schools that would like to apply for sponsorship, please send us their details. We will endeavor to assist where we can.
