It seems that spring is definitely trying to arrive and despite the wave of cold fronts and oscillating temperatures, the roses of Montagu are starting to wake up from their long winter sleep, just in time to be looking their best for the 24th annual Montagu Rose Show.
The theme for this year is the Olympic Rose, which ties in with the marvellous Olympic games in London a couple of months ago and also with Rosafrica, a global rose show, being hosted by South Africa this year.

The organizers would love to see lots of participation from the many talented and dedicated gardeners in our area, and to that effect we have opened a couple of new categories and new prizes.

Any novices or new comers to showing can enter any category as a novice and stand a chance of winning a prize. Additionally, we would love to encourage youngster to enter. Both high school age and primary school age children can also enter roses in any category and stand a chance of winning a prize as junior participants.

We would also like to encourage the businesses to participate with displays either relating to this year’s theme or that in some way relates to their business. Any advertising, flyers or business cards can be placed with the display.

The show will be open to the public on Thursday, 25th October from 5pm to 7 pm and we would like to invite you to come and join us in a glass of wine, whilst delighting in the Montagu’s outstanding roses.

Scent of rose remains fresh in mind wherever one is;

Whether it is in the garden or lies on a wayward side!
Now after seeing rose and read on rose I am intoxicated..!
