Robin Auld at Rainbow Glen
 Back
29/01/2012
Hallo Langeberg Music Lovers!

Rainbow Glen starts off the year with the return of Robin Auld, who performed at the first of our Picnic Concert series last year.

Robin, who is on a SA tour from his current base in the UK, has a fresh 'rootspop' sound featuring slide guitar, harmonica, African blues guitar stylings and soul vocals. Well known to South Africans from his hits such as “Baby you been good”, “All of woman”, “Love Kills” and many others, Robin’s music has evolved from the pop sound of his earlier recordings into a contemporary mix of blues and roots.
He has performed and recorded in New York, London, Glasgow and Nashville, opening for and performing with acts such as Lloyd Cole, Angelique Kidjo, Michelle Shocked, Jackson Brown and Seasick Steve.

His latest CD, “Fingers in my Pocket”, recorded in London, is an eclectic album of roots and blues songs. Robin describes it as being a ”walkin’, credit card, institutional failure, mean women and a sore head” kind of album.. African influences are never far away though, with a reggae song and even a Cape Town goema tune to pepper the mix!

For the show at Rainbow Glen Robin will be playing acoustic versions of his old hits, along with a selection of more recent material, and might well be joined by local lad Jannie van Tonder on trombone for a few songs…

A lively and upbeat afternoon of entertainment that will enthuse and uplift!

Tickets are R100, children under 12 free.

Bring your own picnic and drinks and come and enjoy the family friendly atmosphere at this beautiful venue -- you're welcome to cool off in the pool.
