| Werner and Adele Joubert - previous co-owners of Jessica's Restaurant has recently opened a butchery where we sell oak smoked products, ranging from any cut of pork to cooked and smoked chicken fillets, german sausages, cooked hams, salami, choritzo's (spicy portuguese sausage), genuine russians, home-made brawn, pork steaks, boerewors, lean beef or pork mince, biltong etc. All products are made by Werner, he has worked in the meat industry for 19 years, and is a qualified Meat Technician. The business started out as a wholesale retail shop supplying to the local SPAR, restaurants, guesthouses and farmstalls, soon after opening, locals started buying directly from the shop, and we have been told by many of our clients and visitors to Montagu that we have the best bacon and country ham they have ever tasted! Werner uses oak shavings that he purchases from The Joshua Tree (a local community project) and smokes his bacon, pork, chicken etc with pure wood shavings, this ensures a full and round taste to meats.
