| Novello Farm specializes in creating felted fabrics and felt products for scarves, shawls, jackets, throws, cushions, lampshades, wall panels and hangings. Felt is an intriguing process of transforming natural fleece into a unique fabric which has no warp and no weft like woven fabrics; does not fray, and is infinitely versatile. The products are unique items for the high-end fashion and interior design industries. The team of spinners produce Alpaca yarns using traditional methods of cleaning and spinning and then hand knit and weave the yarns into top quality garments for that exquisite ‘wearing’ experience. Jan Jamieson, Fibre Artist: "My studio overlooks the paddocks from where our herd of beautiful alpacas in their array of natural colours go about their business of growing luxurious fleece – this is where my inspiration begins… Working and living with alpacas is a privilege and the excitement of making unique fabrics from their fleece, knowing that I can guide the fibre and the felting process, but not dictate the final result. I do collections of exclusive, one-of-a-kind hand felted fashion accessories and pieces for the interior design industry. I endeavour to create beautiful, wearable, useable pieces that provoke wonderment and attraction. I experiment with the sensuous properties of this fine luxury fibre using traditional and some not-so-traditional methods of felting. The possibilities for creative expression are limitless with the versatility of this process. Alpaca fleece is a valuable natural product which is finding growing popularity in the world, it is a renewable resource and a strong element of a sustainable ecology."
