Body Stress Release is a complementary health technique that works to release tension or stress that has become stored in the body. When tension is held in the muscles, they may spasm, causing a compression of nerves, discs and tissue. This compression often has a "dampening" effect on the nerves - which may lead to backache, neck pain, headaches and migraines, muscle spasms, pins and needles and even "odd" conditions like tennis elbow, restless legs and carpal tunnel syndrome. Body Stress Release is engaged with the release of this stored tension, allowing the body to improve it's "communication system" and thereby encouraging restoration of the body's natural self-healing mechanisms.
We understand that there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to health and posture, and we have no pre-conceived ideals of "perfect alignment". During a session, a simple withdrawal reflex is observed to note exact locations and directions of tension, which is then released with a light but definite pressure which may be firm or gentle - depending on the tone of each area being worked. The session lasts in the region of 30 to 40 minutes and clients are not required to undress. A complete case history is taken at the start of the session, and the practitioner may also advise on posture and other changes which may be applicable.
Body Stress Release is not concerned with "spinal alignment" nor manipulation, but is a precise and specific technique practised by professional and well trained practitioners. We subscribe to a code of conduct and are all members of a professional body that requires us to undergo regular training updates and workshops. Body Stress Release is non-therapeutic and non-clinical, we do not treat nor diagnose. Our approach is strictly complementary - not as an alternative to medicine, but alongside it. Body Stress Release does not interfere with medical treatment of any kind, which is why so many doctors have felt comfortable recommending it to their patients.
